kOBANA: man to monster

Born in France and raised between the Caribbean (Guadeloupe) and Philadelphia, Kobana's journey into music has always been intertwined with his life experiences and the people around him. From a young age, Kobana was drawn to music, starting with the drums and piano at just six years old. It was in middle school, however, that his passion truly began to evolve. As he delved into poetry, his words naturally began to turn into songs, and by 2020, he released his first official track.

For Kobana, music isn’t just a career—it’s a deeply spiritual experience. "I truly believe that I am closest with God when I am creating music," he shares, reflecting on the soulful connection he feels when he's in the studio. This connection runs deep, having been a part of his life since childhood, and it remains a cornerstone of his artistic identity.

Initially, Kobana's sound was rooted in lo-fi and indie music, but over time, he found himself drawn to rap. Today, he’s embracing a mix of both genres, with a particular focus on bringing his indie-pop roots back into his work. With influences like Tyler the Creator, Baby Keem, Tobi Lou, and Sofaygo, Kobana blends the introspective and experimental qualities of his inspirations with his unique style. At just 20 years old, he's already carved out his place in music, and with every track, his sound continues to evolve.

Kobana’s journey has led to his latest project, MAN TO MONSTER, released on March 14th. The six-track EP showcases his versatility, with collaborations from Drkskinsha, and Zaybeezy. From the hard-hitting “FRONT RUNNA” to a more laid-back sound “DOLLAZ” the EP takes listeners on a journey through Kobana’s growth, his reflections, and his artistic evolution.

With his unique blend of genres, emotional depth, and forward-thinking sound, Kobana is undoubtedly one to watch as he continues to make his mark on the music world.
